Questions?

Every photo that is on HTvisuals has been taken with an iPhone 13, and for certain photos a tripod was used to get a straight image.

This shows you that you do not need an expensive camera to get into photography as modern day phone cameras have the capability of taking high quality photos.

What Equipment Do I Use? Collapse

I use multiple photo editors.

  • For the “La Collection Mono”, I used Apple’s built in photo editor, as I only needed to crop and do basic colour grading for the image.

  • For the “Mist Collection”, I used RNI Films, which allowed me to create a more complex colour mist effect, in two very distinct styles.

What Editing Software Do I Use? Collapse

f/ is used to measure the aperture level on a camera, and it determines the depth of field, and how much light will enter the camera through a physical ring that can be adjusted.

  • A lower f/ number allows more light to enter the camera and creates a shallower depth of field.

  • A higher f/ number allows less light to enter and creates a deeper, depth of field.

f/ or aperture is adjusted to allow for different outcomes, as a lower f/ will blur the background and focus the foreground and vice versa for a higher f/ number.

What Does f/ Mean? Collapse

Shutter speed, is the speed of the shutter opening and closing in a camera and it can be adjusted to achieve different outcomes. As a faster shutter speed allows for a clear photo whereas a slower shutter speed allows for a blurry effect. This happens because the camera is exposed to light for shorter or longer periods.

Due to this, shutter speed is most commonly used in motion photography when there is a moving object, because the camera can either take a short exposure image which will capture a clear photo or a long exposure image which will capture a blurry photo of the moving object.

What is Shutter Speed? Collapse

ISO (International Standards Organization) determines how much light will enter the camera lens, and its built on a numeric scale that most commonly ranges from 200 – 1600, with modern cameras going higher and lower than those points.

This will demine how bright the photo will be, for example a photo at 200 ISO will be darker than a photo taken at 1600 ISO. However there is drawbacks to increasing your ISO, such as increased film grain which creates a grainy image, which in certain cases could lead to the photo becoming unusable.
